Singapore - Top-notch robots demonstrated their manoeuvres for
football-crazed Singaporeans on Saturday after coming in second at the
world championships of a four-legged robotics football league in the
United States earlier this month.
The competition, known as Robocup, is an international research and
educational initiative that aims to develop a team of robots that could
even beat top human football squads, according to Singapore's PSB
Academy where the robots are currently on display.
A set of the robot finalists, known as the NUbots, were dispatched to the city-state, organisers said.
One of 24 teams to compete in the top level tournament in Atlanta,
Georgia earlier this month, the NUbots went down 1-5 against a US team
called the Northern Bites in the finals.
The NUbots hail from Australia's University of Newcastle - a partner university of PSB Academy. - Sapa-dpa
